Writing Our Own Vows
(by Melody)

(We Partially Wrote & Arranged Our Wedding Vows & Wedding Service)

From our decision to "write our own vows," came such a greater and deeper understanding of marriage per se, and of each other. I would highly recommend it to everyone. You may learn just how much more wonderful your future mate is, or you may discover things you didn't know which are not acceptable to you.

I thought I knew what marriage was all about, but through the process of trying to put our views about life, marriage and each other into words, I learned so much more than I could have imagined. Especially since we also wanted to write some of the service and arrange how things would go.

We looked at library books and bought books about words for weddings, and about the how's and why's of wedding services. We had to make it sort of conform to a wedding "form" and various steps that are usual and customary to a church wedding, and to ask the pastor to approve it since we wrote some of the words he was to say.

I particularly, didn't want him to say things that I strongly disagreed with or interject his own random humor and the like. I have seen this done at real and movie weddings.

(individually, we each said this to each other)

Melody/Clark, I covenant with you to be your husband/wife.

I accept the responsibility I have as a person and as a man/woman
to do all I can to help you find the fulfillment of your inner self.

I will share my life with you openly, honestly, deeply.
I will protect and take care of you.
I will be your friend, companion, and ally. Always.

(then we said this to each other - together in unison)

Melody, I take you to be my wife...
Clark, I take you to be my husband...

to laugh with you in joy,
to grieve with you in sorrow,
to grow with you in love;

to have and to hold, from this day forward,
for better for worse,
for richer for poorer,
in sickness and in health,
to love and to cherish,

keeping only unto you,
as long as we both shall live.

This is my solemn vow.

It's so easy to go in to a marriage assuming the other person wants the same things you do, or believes the same things about life and marriage that you do. Writing your vows together, could shake things up a bit, but could maybe make a more solid beginning !

If you are young persons, or any persons contemplating marriage,
you might wish to look over our full service (it's not very long) for thoughts and ideas to make your own marriage and wedding
more meaningful and memorable.

The Service

I am a great fan of marriage but it is so easy to marry the wrong person.
However I cannot really take credit for choosing Clark.
Someone or something wonderful put us together.

My Advice On Marriage
Biochemistry can save marriages & families.

Over the years in learning to treat my lifelong clinical depression with nutritional supplements, I discovered the most wonderful fringe benefit. The supplements greatly improve my emotions, personality and temperament.

They decrease oversensitivity, anger, and irrationality, while increasing understanding, forgiveness, and humor.

We almost never fight - once / twice a year maybe. Disagreements and irritations are overridden by laughter and hugging while the points still get across.

So if you find yourselves arguing over small stuff, even and especially the big stuff - you need to read about and take your vitamins ! Generally speaking, a good start would be a high dose multiple plus a "stress" type formula with 50 to 100 mg of the "B" vitamins. Some of us need even more.

Increase your capacity to love and be loved, stay married longer (forever) and be kinder to all those you love, those who love you. Supplements, although they are an expensive pain in the butt, they have saved my life and made it wonderful -- and prevented me from throwing away the opportunity to live my life with a wonderful kind, giving, loving, faithful, devoted, handsome, sexy and beautiful man.
